Default sweetcorn in tunnel

Picked my first sweetcorn yesterday, did not think it would be ready as the tassel was only black at the beginning, but it was ready, not eaten it yet.

That's fantastic, I had wondered about doing sweetcorn in my tunnel, sounds like it's worth a go next year.

Sweetcorn needs wind pollination. If there is enough wind at the right time all should be well<g>......

"Sweetcorn needs wind pollination"

Indeed, I was surprised it had worked in a tunnel, but I thought I'd just keep my trap shut ... there! that's torn it!

I keep both ends of the tunnel open and also give the plants a good shake everytime I am in there, which is nearly every day.

Eat them straight away Marion........... raw preferrably. It's probably lost a lot of it's taste by now!

The plaited guru Bob Flowerdew RUNS from the garden with sweetcorn to get them in the pan instantly.

Looking forward to my first homegrown one, raw, 5 seconds after it's been picked..........Yum!

mmm, yes do eat asap- the sugars start to turn to starch as soon as it's picked.
