| for some weeks now i have been enjoying the gardners delight in the greenhouse, but the other toms in there (i dont know what they are as threw the packet out before i realised) well they are getting so big and some are the size of a beefsteak tom, now I am 100% positive that I didnt plant beefsteak, i just thought they would be standard size toms!!! My one question is, will they go red soon, do beefsteaks take longer, because of the size, cause i cant wait to eat them, they look so delicious (even if they are green!!) cheers SS

| Bigger toms do take longer to ripen, but as soon as one starts they'll all follow on quite quickly. If you really can't wait, Fried Green Tomatoes isn't just a movie title

| I normally pick them before they turn red and let them ripen inside, so they don't rot on the vine. It seems to be a problem with the huge beefstakes. Mine were so heavy they were pulling the plant to the ground.
