Can any one tell me, do 2nd earlies store well? I planted Annabelle & Vivaldi. Still have 1st earlies to finish.

I grew Vivaldi last year and produced a fair few keepers.
Stored in hessian sacks - we had some with Xmas dinner and finished the rest off by end Jan - plus several meals from the sack between times.
Kept very well - as did Magic Red - finished in Feb.
For both varieties I did go through the arduos task of washing and drying - no ironing involved! - before bagging. Not only to keep sacks clean - but it does help to identify any bad-boys amongst the crop which would foul the rest in storage. I'm also not a 'peeler' unless a very heavy skin has formed - so just a light rinse and dice for me depending on intended use.
Both varieties enjoyed by my hard-to-please son! Good flavour and texture both and multi-use.
Purchased Vivaldi again this year having recieved as either a feebie or promotion last year and saved 10 Magic Reds (a freebie) from own harvest to grown on. Have several 'new' varieties this year - new to me that is - plus an 'experimental' freebie - ooh free is good! -

OK.Got British Queen as second earlies.Do I store them or use them.Tried them as roast okish and tried them as mash or should that be mush!!!!!The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested,when you take,some knocks,some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.Comment

I think Chartotte are classed as second early and I store them extremely well. Usually keep some for seed from one year to the next.
