    I usually give mine a quick acting nitrogenous fertiliser in spring......something like sulphate of Ammonia.......then stand back and watch them grow. Nettle tea would give a similar effect or one of the diluted animal manure teas if you wanted to keep it organic!

      I absolutely agree with Snadger! My cabbages were looking a little sorry for themselves and after a good dosing with sulphate of Ammonia, as Snadger says, it felt like I was literally watching them grow! Lots of the 'old boys' on the allotment have commented on how good my cabbages are Brilliant considering I had never grown a cabbage up until now!
