  • Sorry to go on about my cucumbers but...

I've got plants with one inch cucumbers on them...but they've been one inch in size for a week now...

The variety is called 'Straight Eight' - American - so I've no idea whether they're supposed to be pollinated or not. I've got them in a tiny plastic greenhouse in pots. Packet says nothing about male flowers/pollination etc

    My question is:

How long does it take for a cucumber to get past the one inch stage do you reckon?

    Cheers

It would be unusual for a cucumber to stop growing at 1", so I would thing that it requires pollinating and hasn't been. So it is probably only a matter of time before they rot and drop off. Has the plant got male and female flowers. Are you feeding the plant? How tall is it and how many fruits are there on the plant. My plants are about 5' high and manage to grow about 5 cucumbers at a time, I feed once a week with tomato food but water them almost every day. They are only in a 6" pot.

      Thanks gojiberry:

Yes, the plant has both male and female flowers. (they're yellow - I couldn't get any pollen from the male tho' - like the powdery stuff you see on a courgette). I started feeding only a couple of days ago - with Tomorite.

Plants are 3 feet tall - there are 3 fruits on one plant...in quite a smallish pot actually...about 6" diameter. The bigger pots have lots of foliage, no cucumbers yet tho'.
