I've had a few broad beans get stem damage in the wind. One bent over and snapped right off; the other just has a serious kink. Is there any point in leaving them in, or should I rip them up?

They may grow new shoots from the base. I'd leave them in for a few weeks. -
They may well reshoot....I'm hoping the same for the few I hoed off yesterday, them having struggled through that winter and all..I should not be let loose with a hoe really!Comment

im amazed by the determination of my broadies. a few weeks ago i put some out a bit too early in my 'plastic greenhouse' which ended up turning black by the frost and looked like they had completly died. i mean there was just a withered sad excuse for a stem left. me being lazy just left them in the greenhouse and i was amazed today because they have sent up new green little shoots! i am very pleased!http://pot-to-plot.blogspot.com/ My brand spanking new plot

Mine did this last year (or maybe the year before), they did resprout, and I still got a fair crop off them. You could try sewing some extras now to prolong your cropping time.Comment
