I've used it for dill.. it worked great. Very simple, and no really need to thin. Obviously a bit more expensive, but it saves on later work. Just tear the tape to the length you need, create a drill to the correct depth and length, lay it in, and rake the dirt back over.

I used several of these with my daughter Iona when she was 4 going on 5. She thought they really easy to use and was delighted with her first crops. I have to say that they were very quicj and easy and gave good results - no thinning required either which is always a bonus. Of course, now that Iona is 7 going on 8, she plants her own seeds properly and this year she gets to sit on the tattie planter behind the tractor and plant tatties and JA's.

I've seen them and thought they were expensive - however having no thinning to do for carrots is a mighty attactive proposition. I might actually get to eat one some, rather than the bloody carrot fly.

Might look to see if I can pick some up cheap at the end of the season.

Ah... that is a good point. I'm just doing a Suttons order now. I might try the carrots, just because of the thinning/carrot fly thing.

I got a �5 voucher from T and m in the post this morning. I only have to pay p and p which is �1.99. Managed to get some lettuce and carrot for that price.

I used these for carrots last year and they were great, so much easier than fafffing about thinnning out. They're expensive but I think worth it for certain crops.

Sounds like a great idea.
It would certainally save time when it comes to sowing the seed and getting the right spacing between them.
