  • see through growing pots

    Hi,
I've "rescued" a couple of these 5l water bottles from peoples rubbish.

I came up with the idea of growing some spuds in them as I thought it would be cool to be able to actually see them growing. However researching growing spuds yesterday (and then purchasing some, thanks Tattieman!) it seems light will make them go green?

I still like idea of being able to see things growing "underground" so would carrots be ok to grow in there, or swede or beetroot maybe?
    Or any other ideas?

    Cheers

The light should only be a problem if the plants are constantly exposed to it. You could get round this by keeping the container covered (e.g. with a bin liner or old compost bag) when you aren't actually observing.

It's an interesting idea, but I suspect visibility would be limited to the few millimiteres immediately on the inside of the container.

Carrots go green too Keith if they're exposed to light.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
