i think it will be like carrot tops, where if you plant them they go to seed, probably wrong though lol

my theory is try it and see wot happens, if you're worried about bugs, plant them in a pot

I'd go with what Lynda says about planting in a pot.

Because they will be vegetatively reproduced they should be an exact clone of the parent plant!

Never heard of taking cuttings from brussel sprouts, but it would certainly make an interesting talking point.

There are little white roots coming out of the bottom (cut) end.

of the sprout, or the stalk that the sprouts grow on?

At a guess they will go to seed before producing sprouts.

These are shop (T***o) bought sprouts. The roots are coming out of the sprout itself. Fairly thick white roots, a bit like those which sprout out of a garlic clove at this time of year, but a bit hairier. Have potted up a couple to see what happens, though won't rely on them for this years supply of sprouts!!

How bizarre! I've never heard of that and I'm the queen of letting veg go right to the end of it's limits in the fridge.

It could be the only way I could ever grow sprouts...so do let us know what happens.

If you didn't pick sprouts for use in the kitchen they would eventually 'blow' and bolt! What would usually happen, is the sprout elongates and sends out a flower head of yellow flowers just like oil seed rape!

These will set seed but don't expect much from the seed as it's usual to have at least six brassica plants seeding at the same time to give a gene bank and allow them to cross pollinate.

Still an interesting project to get them to flower though!
