  • Reliable weather source!

This is plot related but if it's not in the right place please mods feel free to move!

I'm looking for a weather forecast for the up and coming month but can't find anything that predict that far ahead.

Anyone recommend any sites or apps that does not predict thunder and lightening when it's 20+ or vice versa??

There are yet no weather models that can predict with any degree of accuracy beyond 5 days or so, and in certain conditions (such as the strong jetstream we suffered from from November til February), even 3 days can be about as good as it gets. The Met Office is generally pretty good with their 5-day forecasts, and even their 1-2 week outlooks too. There are several good weather fora out there with educated posters who will give their thoughts on forecast model outputs - TheWeatherOutlook - latest UK weather forecasts, reports and news is among the best.

I can do that for you, getting warmer, showers through April, still freezing in Scotland however. Chances of a tornado in Torquay.

It easy to predict the weather round here butt, its going to be lovely and wet, with some occasional strong wind, but mainly light south westerley, rain will be mainly coming in from the west on a daily basis to brighten your mood. There will be the occasion grey sunshine with patches of horrible blue sky, but don't worry it won't last for long and will soon return to wet and windy just how we like it.

I'm running out of room for the chillies don't know whether to chance them in greenhouse but if my wife puts them up and the temps drop it's not as if I can drive up to fleece them if she's in work

Having studied physical geography for a number of years and then taken a keen interest in meteorology due to this gardening lark and some walking (usually involving a pub stop) I have become pretty accurate at forecasting the weather up to a month in advance.

This month will be ..... Mixed
Next month is likely to be... Mixed.

Or you could try WeatherWeb.net, they do a monthly forecast but I wouldn't vouch for the accuracy, Good old MetOffice for me.

Trouble with the Met.Office, Chippy, is that you go out for the day, armed with the 'knowledge' their site has given, and by lunch-time it has changed, and you have the wrong clothes. I now carry an extra layer, a waterproof coat and over-trousers, and a pair of wellies in my car.

We had an old guy in our village who everyone consulted about the weather, particulalry the farmers, when to sow, when to cut the hay etc. He had a surprisingly good track record and became most peoples first port of call. One day I asked him "Whats the weather going to be like tomorrow jack"? He said "Dunno, me radios buggered"

I use the BBC weather app, and it's usually quite reliable (for the 5-day forecast. the time after that is usually more hit and miss).

I Use the windows app, look out 'em and see what it is, if that's not accurate enough, I use the door app, ie open it and step outside

Never test the depth of the water with both feet

I like Metcheck. Besides the forecasts, local people submit their own reports about weather and I find they're very accurate if you want to know what the weather was like a couple of hours ago.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
