  • really silly question regarding cress and mustard..

    hiya

I have a few silly questions about cress and the similar mustard...

wanting to grow these, but what happens to them if i dont use them at shop bought size? will they grow bigger? can I still use them at larger size?

The ones i cut to use, will they regrow if in compost?

    Now i feel silly!!

The idea is to use them as sprouted seeds, ie. small. They will grow bigger if they have any nutrients but the crowding means they will not really come to much and will probably get mouldy and horrible. Once you've decapitated them that's it. Having said that, I throw mine out after they've been cut so I've never waited to see if they grow back but I doubt it.

You eat these when they just have the first seed leaves. If they start growing true leaves then they become quite bitter to taste and hot. I think they are brassicas.
You can cut them, rinse them and they will last a couple of days in the fridge. Better than letting them go over.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
