  • Purple Ukraine Tomatoes

I received some wonderful Purple Ukraine tomato seeds from a Grape a while back, they are growing away nicely along with some Black Russian toms.

The have lots of flowers and small toms forming but the leaves on types plants are much slimmer and droopier than my other varities of tomatoes. My neighbour is also growing them and reports that hers are the same. Are we both doing something wrong or is this the norm?

Some varieties of tomato are inclined to droop in the heat of the day but usually perk up each evening.

        Hi

Mine do the opposite - they point upwards...well they do when in the greenhouse.

As long as they are growing I'm not too bothered about it, as soon as they get planted outdoors [and they are an outdoorsy type as they are supposed to be grown in Russia], they seem to behave normally.

Not grown this type but this year I have about 10 varieties and it's amazing how different they are in leaf shape and growing habit. If someone else's are like that too I suspect it's just the way it grows.

I was hoping that might be the case Flum. The flowers look healthy so I suppose I should just let them 'do their thing'.

Some potato leaf varieties have a propensity to drooping, its not anything wrong with them.

                  Hi Amanda,
I am also growing this variety of Toms and mine only just formed buds. So yours are way more mature than mine. But I also noticed that their leaves tend to be a bit more .... tender? not sure of the right word.

Don't think it's anything you are doing.
