  • Potatoe plants...what do they look like?!

    Hi all,
a quick question as you are all probably quite fed up with potato questions by now

I planted mine on easter saturday...3rd april.
The bed I used did have some bluebells in and small other top weeds, which I duly removed before planting, however dont want to risk pulling up spud plants by mistake and cant find any pictures of the very small plants anywhere on google etc.
Would anyone by any chance have a picture of them, link to a picture?

    Thank you

When mine first started showing above the soil they looked a bit like mint leaves.

Do like me and don't weed for ages until you're what you've got.

Mmmmmmm, those chips look AMAZING! Got to love spuds! *Tummy rumbles*

Here's a pic of my spuds just starting to come through about 4 days ago. Not overly clear I know but I agree with Bren that they resemble a mint plant.

                      Hope it helps!

They're also pretty thick too, small weeds (weedlings?) tend to be quite spindly so I would think that'd be an easy way to tell.

The shoots are pretty thick and you will/should know. You can tell the difference.

                            Thanks all, appreciate it.
Will keep a closer eye out then.
NB weeds spindly unless they are bluebells!!

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
