    Why is it when you dig some potatoes and leave the odd one in the ground they start growing straight away but if you do not lift a row and leave until later on in year why don't they grow the same as the odd ones jacob

    Do the 'stored' ones not sprout because they are still joined to the plant?

      I've kept potatoes for ages that havn't sprouted but as soon as I plant them in pots of soil, off they go, three foot tall in no time. The answer lies in the soil (who said that?)
      I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!
