  • Potato query??

I have 3 potato planting bags with Charlotte potatoes in. They were planted on the 18th April so have been in for just over 12 weeks. When I did these potatoes before they flowered and we harvested after that. However this year they haven't flowered and don't look as if they have any intention of! Just yesterday the lower leaves are yellowing with brown speckles on. I'm just wondering if they are dying back naturally as it's their time up, as it were! If I harvest without waiting on flowers does that mean no potatoes??

We are in the west coast of scotland and although the weather has been great the last 2 weeks it was a cold spring.

    Thanks

The leaves turning yellow with brown spots sounds like blight, if so you need to cut the foliage back or it will infect the spuds. Can you show a picture? Or have a look at this thread

    And compare to your potatoes.

Doesn't sound like blight to me. Have a furtle and see what you've got.

Due to the cold weather at the beginning of the year spuds are a couple of weeks behind this year.

As long as they have been kept well watered and fed I would think they are about ready and its natural die back.

As RL suggests have a furtle to find out.
