Hey, I've noticed the leaves on a couple of my potato plants have started to turn yellow, and now some of those a beginning to blacken. Any idea what it might be?

Trying to upload a pic via mobile which may or may not work. Atm Its showing on sante, cara and sarpo mira!?!

No, can't view your picture. Might be frost damage or wind burn though.

Have a look on the 'Is it blight?' thread, there are links and pics of other leaf problems and diseases in the first couple of pages.

As said it could just be wind burn or something more serious, without the pic its hard to say.

Looks like nothing I've seen before! Where are they? Outside/greenhouse/polytunnel? Have they been protected from frost? How long ago did you plant them?

Can I assume that rules out blight? I wasn't sure but couldn't believe it would be blight this early.

They were started in a greenhouse in tubs in march and beginning of april. Then been outside for at least a few weeks.

I was careful to cover up shoots with compost for april frosts but been busy recently and its possible they may have been frosted in the last week or two. However there are plenty of other tubs seemingly unaffected.

I dont mind if its frost - would just be happy to know that its not blight (which I've not seen on potatoes in the last 2 years).

They look similar to my early pots and most of the other early pots I've seen on my allotment site today. After spending an hour panicking and researching blight I goggled frost damage and found some pictures just like my plants. Try an image search on the web and see what you think.

My main crops are unafected, only the earlies, although they all ended up going in at the same time.

My frosted ones went all black and manky, and lots of the leaves dropped off... I thought this was normal?? There are new leaves coming through though, so hopefully not all lost. Couldn't believe even the ones in the dustbins with lids on suffered . Knew it would be a cold night, but wasn't expecting it to be that bad...

Yep. Did a google search and fairly sure it is frost damage. So no need to panic just yet.

Its only about 5 tubs out of a gazillion that have been affected for me so as this isnt going to spread I should be fine and perhaps they'll recover in time.

                    Thanks everyone.
