    Plum toms

Thanks for that info. I never knew that. I have been eating mine with salad. Slightly tougher skins, which maybe why they recommend cooking them, but the taste was fine - and I'm still here to tell the tale.

There's no reason that you can't eat plum tomatoes raw so far as I'm aware. They might be nicer cooked, but that's down to personal taste, They won't do you any harm.

wot Sarz Said! They are best cooked, but that's personal taste. I ate them raw last year and this, ... I'm still here... I think...

I grow the plum type for drying as I prefer the concentrated taste of sun dried toms to fresh ones * Sitting munching on a few now*

Tesco were selling plum tomatoes Sunstream as salad tomatoes and I bought some. They were lovely raw and I saved some seed. Sowed them and I now have four plants with fruit just ripening. Yet to taste, but if they are good as the originals they are fine to eat raw. As with most types of tomato it depends on variety.

What's your sundrying recipe Snadger? I'm not a fan of fresh tomato and am expecting a glut shortly.

I splashed out and bought an electric Dehydrator a while ago when it was on offer.

I just cut the toms in half, sprinkle lightly with olive oil and a light dusting of salt.............then into dryer!

Here we cover them with a fly screen and leave them in the sun to dry.

In your cold summer climate you could leave them in a cool oven - minimum setting.

Nonsense about not eating them raw, IMHO they are some of the best for salad.

I've been eating mine raw and they were better than all my other toms for flavour and no tough skin either, yummy!

I've had them raw, no problem in salad.
They're supposed to better for making sauces etc becasue they don't have much in the way of juicy bits, just lots of flesh.
