I have been planting a few over the last few weeks for a succession! Still got quite a few to plant as the spuds come out!

Blimey, I thought I was late!!

The last of mine went in 3 weeks ago and the first lot (Zermatt) are ready for harvesting as baby leeks.

Never to late to try anything as far as planting and sowing goes. However the amount of success will depend largely on the weather. If we winter starts late then there is plenty of growing time left, maybe 3/4months which is plenty of time for leeks to grow to a decent size. On the down side frosts and cold weather could be with as within 4/6 weeks which would slow the growth of leeks down and greatly reduce the size of the harvest.

I planted some out in September last year (no deliberate plan, just didn't get around to it by then) and they still looked like little spring onions come the winter. However they survived the heavy snow and then bulked up a bit in the spring. Still quite small when pulled but really tasty and still worthwhile. Having said that have all mine I was intending to plant in this year now as I want thicker stems - although I do still have some in a trough so maybe I can find some more space for some ickle ones..........

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
