Hi all, I wondered if overgrown mangetout are okay to eat, or would I have to shell them

You can shell them out and eat the peas inside but if they are true mangetout (i.e. lacking the fibrous layer in the pod) you should be able to cook them even when they are very swollen. Try one in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes. If it's not fibrous and nasty, you're on!

My golden sweet ones are fine when at proper pea size so long as they've not dried out. Don't look as nice but taste good

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

They taste fine, in fact even more sweet than when they are younger and flat.
