  • Onions

Hi, I'm new to this site and also to organic gardening! I planted some over wintering onions in november and they dont seem to be swelling. What am i doing wrong? Many thanks, Rachael.

It's the day length rather than warmth that will make them swell, so some time to go yet.

Welcome Rachael. Your onions will only just be starting to grow again after the worst of the winter. About the end of March I would give them a sprinkling of pelleted chicken manure to give them a nutrient boost and they will romp away then.

If I did that they would pack up their roots and move next door
