  • onion sets

I have stored them in both the shed (light) and the cupboard under the stairs (scary dark), didn't make a jot of difference.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

In my experience it's temperature that makes all the difference. Store them too warm and they will start shooting. IN any case, get them planted out as soon as is practicable as you will find some will start sprouting whatever you do.

I like to keep them in a cool, light space that is frost free, ready to go out late Feb mid March depending on the weather.

Keep them cool and light. You could start them off now in celltrays.

I keep mine in a draw in the shed, cool and out of direct light, not for any reason otber than I got to keep them somewhere. Not had a problem with them starting growing to early.

Might still be OK to plant them out now with this fairly mild weather we're having. They might well get rooted and shooted before any serious bad weather turns up.
