Comments? Is it really of any more use than the Vine....????

I've been using it for a while. It's useful for tracking what you've planted and when, and to get information on expected harvest times or how to grow things.

It's also quite handy for facilitating swaps between people. You can keep track of what seeds you have and mark them as available to swap. You can also make a wish list, and it's easy to see who has what you want.

That being said, it's not nearly as useful as this forum is for conversation and having questions answered. I find there's not very much discussion. So I'd say that no, it's not more use than the Vine for that type of thing, but it's good to use in a less-social way to track your growing.

Not at the moment - it all seems very Australia/New Zealand orientated at first glance.

And other parts seem very similar to the Vine - the journals are like our Blogs, we have a Seed Swap (although I do like their map showing where seeds have travelled), we have 'Groups'...

In fact, the only thing they seem to have that we don't is a bunch of maps tracking where seeds have been sent etc. It only has 213 gardeners from the UK registered at present, so probably not a great many questions being answered.

I use it for statistical data (plant heights, germination times, ideal pH) when updating WikiGardener. But it doesn't contain enough information on the actual practicalities of growing most vegetables or their common diseases and pests. The seed swap section seems handy as well.

Looks quite handy for tracking your garden and growing but nowhere like as good as here for the social chat and advice

I use The Vegetable & Herb Expert book for that, it's pocket sized, so goes to the plot with me

I signed up for the Folia thing too, a month or two ago. And to be honest, I can't get my head round it. I know I'm very shallow but I just don't like the interface! It's not pretty! And it's too confusing, and seems to try to be all things to all people. The end result, for me, is that it feels like a hodge-podge of different things put together in a not-particularly-pleasing way.

But then again, I was already using growveg.com for tracking (which I absolutely LOVE!) and a brilliant free online gantt chart maker: tomsplanner.com. (Cause I am a saddo who likes tracking these things.)

So, Folia is definitely not for me.

I am quite enjoying it but the help and advice here is 2nd to none. Have just advised a new local gardener to join us, hope she does.
I like Folia's seed to plant to harvest record and am also keeping my journal on there and gradually putting the last years handwritten journal on as well.

TBH, I don't think it's possible to combine all gardening sites into one. And you can't replace the 'over-the-fence' style conversation of the grapevine forum with a community-less question-and-answer board like myfolia.com has.

Oh I completely agree! The conversations, advice, and general speediness of replies in here is astonishing. I don't see how anywhere else could be half as good as this!
