They'll be fine in a greenhouse, just remember to water them

How far apart should I be planting my Marketmores on the plot?

I posted a similar query recently and was advised that its fine to do this and you treat them the same as outdoor cucs even though they are indoors. Do you know what we should do for pollination, as I know some varieties can become bitter if you don't pollinate correctly? As you can see I am a complete novice!

I had good success with marketmore last year outdoors. I started my seeds indoors in a propergator and grew on until they were a good 10" tall, I then transplanted some into a growbag at the bottom of a plastic greenhouse and a few more into another growbag outdoors buried in some soil for extra warmth. Had excellent results from both patches and doing exactly the same this year. You won't regret growing them as they as so tasty!

They dont like too much direct sunlight i think...I planted mine in a border with full sun and they started going all droopy...Dug em up and put them somewhere more shady and they picked up again..

Mine are on the windowledge in the house, there quite large now, they are about 10 inch from 600w growligthts and they love the light and the heat, the hotter the quicker they seem to grow,
2 days ago i had no side shoots, today all of them have lots of side shoots all with mini cucumbers on, the main problem im hving is they keep grabbing the net curtains an other plants to grow up instead of the canes
Another load of cucumbers piccolo, longeo verde, and space master all seem to be growing fine with the heat ,also have a 400w growlight almost touching them, its about 85C it has been upto 90C but i opened up the windows in here today and they all love it, its just keeping them watered thats the problem

I asked on here the other day about pollination, the marketmore need to be pollinated , if not outdoors with insects i presume they will need doing with a paintbrush, i have 2 i didnt pollinate and they are small cucumbers that are bending and obviously ging to fall off, the ones pollinated are straight and growing rapidly even though there only a few days old

Mine are still in mini green house and starting to look abit sick. When can they go out into buckets? Think may have spidermite cos other plants are starting to look the same!

Outdoor cucumbers require both male and female flowers and the female need to be pollinated. Even with growing it in the greenhouse there are usually enough insects about to do it for you.
