  • List of potato days for 2012

Not quite sure where to put this but I couldn't find it on anywhere already so here goes. List of Potato Days And Seed Swaps 2012

My nearest one is just round the corner at Sydenham school and then another one at the end of February at the Garden Museum in Lambeth. I'm being spoilt!

What are the rules for these?

Is it unopened packets only? Do they also swap other garden paraphernalia? ARE THERE CAKES???
Did I miss it on the site?

Aside from that, at the bottom of the list was an archive section, including a 20% Voucher Code for Homebase garden. Check out that bad boy!

The OH and I will be going to the one in Whitchurch, I'd like to get a few different varieties of seed potato - last year was my first year of growing spuds and I had Maris peer, Maris bard and desiree from Garden Organic. This year I'd like to try more varieties but in smaller numbers - is it true that you can buy individual seed potatoes on these days?

Yes 20p a tuber. I've been doing a similar thing. Buying a ten tubers of each I fancy as that's what I'll get in a row. Then all different rows.

If you're going to Ryton, remember to wear your thermals - don't know why, but there is some sort of local weather/geographical phenomenon which means that the last weekend in January is always bloody freezing.

It's a good day, though - the entrance fee is worth it for the seed swap alone, and that's before you've got to the spuds. And the shop. And the cafe.

Bumping this I going to the one near me today, although I have the majority to my spuds already I'm still going to pick a few I haven't tried before, there will be over 40 different varieties.

that's exactly what I want to do, VVG - don't want a girt big bag, just a handful of each.
