  • Lifes mysterys.

Last year my first toms were picked middle of June. This year still green but the water melons that always seamed to die have grown like weeds.
Bedding plants that were hard to germinate last year have grown like mad.
    Mystery.

I don't even have flowers on my toms and I'm not that far away from you...they are outside though!

This year has been very unusual. We had a very warm spring but with the odd late frost, and we are having a warm start to summer. It has been extremely dry, apart from the odd deluge, since autumn. This is very different from last year when winter and spring were very wet.

A big part of growing is getting it right for me. Like things to be different each season.

Wouldn't it be boring if gardening was predictable!
Even when you have failures one year, that's all they are - failures that year. Try again and next year they'll probably overwhelm you with gluts

Gardening is full of surprises and they aren't all my fault. Sometimes the weather is just so changeable and at other times I think garden pixies play tricks on us

This year I sowed two Diva cukes in a pot. Both came up so when it was time I separated and planted them side by side in the greenhouse.

It's a surprise to see that I have a cucumber and something that doesn't look like a cucumber growing side by side. The odd one, with leaves about a foot wide, looks suspiciously like a large squash or a melon

              Therefore I blame the pixies!
