  • Lazy Housewife: beans mouldy

    This isn't a criticism, btw

My lazy housewife beans from the seed parcel were mouldy on opening, and none of them have germinated.

    Anyone else got problems?

I'm wondering if it's my usual "white beans rotting" problem, or if the seeds perhaps weren't mature/dried

I had some Lazy Housewife too from the VSP. Not sown yet but they look fine - not mouldy. Mine are from Vicky - Thank you! Will sow them soon.

some of my self saved peas went the same way..........I'm thinking that maybe last autumn wasn't optimal seed saving weather

If you pm me your address TS I'll send you some more. I may have been a bit hasty bagging them up!
(Mine are ok but if anyone else has any duff seeds let me know!)

I've checked mine and they look ok - not germinated any yet though.

I checked some in the Virtual Seed Parcel and yes, some are mouldy. I've removed the packs and will bin any fluffy seeds, and re-dry the rest before packing them and adding them back in again.

Good news here: I got one to germinate, it's now in a pot of its own and will be nurtured

If anyone else has mouldy ones let me know and I'll replace them!
