| i'm in the same boat just finishing my onion beds now and will be planting sets at the end of next week , but to answer you question i would say end of april.

| You could always put them in compost in a seed tray or in modules. Then when you have time/space to plant they will have established some roots and will get away faster so you'll catch up a bit on the time you lost.

| I haven't even thought about planting mine yet - i've still got the build the beds!! Sadly a lot of my shallots are sprouting like mad, i might have to put the into modules for the time being. You can leave it several weeks yet i should think.

| Onions put most of their resources into leaf growth until mid-summer, then use most of that leaf growth for feeding the bulb. as long as they're in early enough to produce sufficient leaf before late June they should be OK, but I would assume that less leaf equals smaller bulbs. |
