  • Knowing your onions

Please can someone offer some advice. The onions I planted last year are almost ready. I am wondering if I can plant a new set of onions now that will mature later in the year/early next year to give me a continuing supply. Is this possible and any suggestion of type would be greatly appreciated.

Overwintered onions don't store well, so I grow a few of these (~30) to eat straight from the ground or within a few months of harvest. For the rest of the year I grow (~100+) sets planted in the spring that I can store right through to this time next year. I haven't had to buy an onion ever since I have started growing them in my garden.
