    Keeping multipurpose compost

    I have a good part of a bag of multipurpose compost left from the summer. What's the best way to store it for spring? It's currently in an outdoor covered area. Should I keep it moist or let it dry out?

    (I'm a container gardener without a spot of 'real' soil to my name, so no putting it on a compost pile).

    If you let it dry out, there is less chance of any airborne seeds germinating and you won't get moss growing. Easy enough to damp off when you want to use it plus a lot lighter to move about.
    I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

      How much have you got left? I buy mine in the big bales and keep in the shed. Actually I must be nice to No. 1 son as I need another bale. Make sure the top is closed over and it should be fine. You'll be using it again soon to germinate seeds.

        I just fold over the top of any open bags and weight it down with a stone or two to help stop the rain getting in. It doesn't keep it completely dry but it's done the job for me
