  • Just my topsoil?

    hi all,

    im in the process of building my raised veg beds, my topsoil is due for delivery for me to get started next weekend i have a question if someone could answer it?

    do i need to dig any think in to help with growing, fertilisers ect.. i want to start putting things in straight away any help would be great many thanks

    No, but you'll be adding homemade garden compost over the years, which will put back the nutrients the plants take out

      Best to dig the soil in/under the raised beds, so the roots can go down deep, before you build the beds up.

        No need, as long a it is decent top soil. I planted straight into top soil at my allotment with nothing added when I first built mine with no problem.

        I put horse manure in my garden beds but this was to help fill them. Bought 4 tons of topsoil for them but wasn't enough so used some free horse manure to bulk it out.
