  • Just got some tatties from Tattieman!

My tatties from Tattieman arrived today. Most impressed with the service! Ordered Tuesday evening and arrived by lunchtime today! Potatoes look fab! Got some International Kidneys and the shoots are already looking fab on them. I was slightly worried that it was getting too late to start chitting (that's me a complete newbie - learnt tonnes about growing potatoes already off this forum!) first earlies but the shoots are already looking very good!

I ordered from Tattieman after being majorly let down by gardenbargains.com. I ordered some potato growpods (Tattieman's were MUCH cheaper too!!) and a dwarf cherry and plum tree pack from them and I've got to say I've been most disgusted with their customer service! So much so, that I emailed them on Tuesday and told them to cancel the whole order! I'm still waiting for the response they promised I would get within 24 hours and that's 2 and a half days ago! I'm a bit gutted about the cherry and plum trees as I thought they were a bargain at £19.99 for the pair! So I'm back to sifting through the web looking for dwarf fruit trees again!! Any recommendations would be very welcome!

Will definitely be going back to Tattieman for my next lot of spuds!

It is so pleasing to hear such nice comments. I hope you find your trees at a suitable price and quality. Potatoes are just getting ready to plant now. I can see most of them just starting to chit now as they attempt to grow.

Tattieman, could I ask if you still have Golden Wonder left? I have been trying to grow these for the last few years with no luck yet (I remember them from my childhood).

Golden wonder is like hens teeth but I still have a small amount. You need to plant Golden wonder early in an area that is rich in potash as the main growth always goes into theirs haulms and they bulk up right at the very end. Too much nitrogen with them and you are wasting your time.

Thanks for this info on Golden Wonder, I managed to get hold of some and will be planting this weekend.

Thanks Tattieman, will try to get on your site and order a few then - hopefully I will get a result this year. Might even put the pots in the greenhouse to keep the blight off!

Always glad to help. You could start your golden wonder off in small plant pots and transfer them to your garden later on.

Tattieman thanks for that - I didn't realise GW was hard to get hold of (picked some up at local potato day purely because of the crisps lol). Will try to remember to stick some potash on the row where they are planted.
