  • Jerusalem artichoke

Some of the leaves on my nice, tall Jerusalem Artichokes have turned brown/black - what is the cause & is this ok ?
    Should I be doing anything?

How thick is the growth on your artichokes as leaves turning brown is often caused by wind. Especially if the growing place is exposed.

      HI Ian
      Many thanks
They are very strong plants and have good thick stems & lots of foliage.
The artichokes wernt too exposed until a couple of weeks ago when, believe it or not, archiologists came to open up the site & cut down all the long grass around my plot that had been acting as a wind break - so your 'wind' theory could be right.
I trust that it wont affect the tubers in any way???

The archaeologist visit sounds interesting though!
          What are they looking for?!

They Are Looking For Remains Of A Roman Town - My Plot Is Very New ( This Is My First Year) And I Am Positioned At The Back Of Others That Are Established - So On 3 Sides Of My Plot There Was Nothing But Weeds- Now About 30 Archiologists Are There With Marquees Etc - A Major Dig!

Tell them you don't want a Major Dig, but that a Double Dig will be OK
