Planted some from seed about 3 weeks ago....about 50% germination and sitting about 3" high at present
Think I,ve grown them from sets before but they seem to have been superceded by newer varieties now. Think they were one of the first Autumn planted onions.
Just been to the garden centre and got two bags of Swift and two bags of Unwins First Early sets for Autumn sowing
Looking forward to trying them and at £1.49 for each 270grm bag was pleasantly surprised at the price

jap onions great ,planted last october from sets ,really good crop lifted mid june ,which gave loads of time to replant the plot with callabrese .they came on real good with the hot weather ,no hosepipe ban here so cut loads ,and still cutting side shoots with lots more develloping ,saves having one crop holding up plot all summer .cheers gang edComment

I grew Senshyu this year, overwintered from sets. They were very successful and only two bolted. Would definitely go for them again.
