  • I've really for my work cut out now..

I've just been offered the other half of my plot it's actually the bigger half and comes with a shed and space with a greenhouse so happy days.. I'd just reached the point with the first half that I could stand back and be pleased with myself after spending every weekend for 6 months up to my armpits in couch grass and horsetail root. Thankfully, although the 2nd half does have horsetail it hasn't been rotovated.

I must be a glutton for punishment

    Now.. Where do I start?

You'd have been bored just looking at it and now you can grow more of the stuff you like and more variety of stuff you'd like

However, being pedantic, as my children tell me I am.... "the bigger half" If it's half, it's half, if it's bigger it ain't half

It's exciting isn't it? I have been after another half plot and have finally got it. Unfortunately this new half is under water at the moment and the greenhouse (which is about 25 foot long) has no glass or very little glass in it so both big jobs.... Mine also has a huge long run of redcurrant bushes. Eeeeh..... will be eating redcurrant jelly for years, me thinks !

25ft! That's a huge greenhouse! Is it underwater because of the weather or a leak? One of my neighbouring plot holders has just built drainage ditches into his plot as it floods so frequently. I'll be interested to see if it works.

I think we eat about 1 teaspoon of red currant jelly a year, in gravy for lamb on a special occasion. Are you especially fond of it? Maybe you could make recurrent wine?

Yes, it's a massive greenhouse. OH is very handy with the old tools etc so he will be doing that very soon, it's a wooden framed one. The plot has a spring running underneath it, apparently, and it gets really boggy down at the far end.
Redcurrants are a real treat for us and again OH makes his own wine so yippppeeeeeeeee !
