I used a similar system on hanging baskets and troughs and it worked brilliant half hour in the morning and half hour at night was all it took even in the hottest days and no more capping of the compost

      Hi Helen
I don't have one yet but am getting one for this season for the hanging baskets and pots that will be in the tunnel.
I do however have a mate who has a large tunnwel and he grows strawberries in growbags suspended on boards from the crop bars, and he usees one of these systems to both water and feed his strawberries - I've seen it in action and it is pretty nifty.
At the mo I just use the overhead irrigation system and ground laid soaker hoses in my own tunnel.

        Irrigation systems

        Evening all!

I was thinking of setting up an irrigation system for my raised beds, has anyone done this and what did you use - the soaker hose type things or drippers on the very small pipe? I'm a bit at a loss to know whats best. i know our garden centres use the drippers. Any ideas anyone?

        Thanks
        Jo

Helly, my folks had a similar system for their hanging baskets and plant troughs - A1 results, no problems at all. They had the best display for miles!

Jersey Bean, I think it depends on your site. If you are dry and sunny, go for the seep-hose option, whereas if you don't need too much, or you want a more 'invisible' option, go for the micro-system. Good luck!

No no no, I missed this yesterday, don't buy it!

They are absolute junk, what you are buying here is two kits that I bought last year for £5 each from a cheap shop near here. The drippers fall apart and don't work properly, everything is poorly made, please do not buy any dripper kit that has those red drippers.

If you want a dripper system, go for one of the better ones you can buy from a decent garden supplies place, not this complete rubbish.
                You are warned!

Btw after trying it and taking ages to set it up and sort it out, I got completely fed up with the whole thing, chucked it all into a bag and took it back to the shop for a refund.
I then went back to a leaky hose which is much better.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
