  • How long does rocket take to grow at this time of year?

Hello, just wondering if anyone has an idea how long it will take rocket to grow at this time of year in Scotland, please? I may be on a hiding to nothing, but I sowed some yesterday in a square foot box. The temperatures are about 15 degrees here during the day and about 4 degrees at night ... But then again, I think rocket doesn't mind the cold?

Just wondering if a) it will survive, and b) how long it will take to be ready?

It's not so much the cold, as the lack of daylight hours. You may well find that it struggles

How big is ready then? ...I find it tends to run to seed quickly and is much more pleasant to eat when very young...I just sow a tray /box a week and razor it off as required.

I sowed mine on Sunday and when I looked today the seedlings have come up.

I guess I mean just big enough to eat in a salad, but wee enough for it not to be all horrible?

Good grief! That's hardly any time at all! Brilliant! But then again, there's a massive climate difference between your neck of the woods and mine, so I won't get too excited just yet ...

I sowed mine on Wednesday and they are up and growing in the greenhouse despite the short daylight hours at this latitude. I have also sown Little Gem lettuce and pak choi, but these are not showing yet.

Ooooh, I have rocket and radish seedlings already, and I only sowed them ten days ago ... I'm really pleased! Annacruachan, that's good to hear your rocket is up and going already too
