Default How long do they have to be before I can harvest

I have planted cucumbers this year as a first. Varieties are Carmen and Marketmore. Both inside a greenhouse. I know some varieties are shorter than others, but how long do each of these varieties grow before I can harvest. Carmen are currently about 6".

I am not aware of a minimum size to harvest but you must pick them before they start to go yellow. If you fancy one, cut it and try it - that's what I usually do. There will be plenty more along fairly quickly.

Try one! Cucumbers come in a glut so you may have more than you can eat if you wait; the younger ones are often more sweet and tender.

Hi Katie? and welcome to the Vine,

I was just looking at something else for another member here and I found this: it didn't answer her question, but I think it will answer yours just click on this link and you should see your answer on point 4.

So, enjoy your cucumber

Use them as soon as they are big enough for your use, six inches is plenty big enough to use. I would have had my first one when it was half that size. They aren't like tomatoes where they have to ripen to use. Havn't even sighted one on my plant yet and it is up to the top of the greenhouse, plenty of male flowers no females. Gherkins are doing well and don't seem to have any male flowers.
