  • How deep is deep?

    Good evening all,

I have gotten my hands on some tubs from my local farm shop, i thought they would be ideal for growing things in (i might be moving shortly so needed things to grow in that i can take with me), i was wondering if i could grow peas and broad beans in these, they are 6 inches deep, with drainage holes already built in.

To me,they look like mushroom boxes-I got the same ones from the local shop when I decided to pick and sell the chantarelles.

They will want some sticky tape over the hole's in the side and some bodging in the bottoms....jacob

They had been using them for Rhubarb crowns, they are slightly bigger than the mushroom boxes, i thought the holes in the side would be a bonus , would they be deep enough though???

Blue, peas usually want pretty deep roots so I don't think your boxes will be suitable for them. But you could grow lettuce, pak choi, spring onions, radish, stump rooted carrots, onions and lots of other stuff for sure. Good luck with the project.
