Are there any members in south sheffiield of north derbyshire area who may know where i can get a load of manure from: Either to collect (free) close to S8 woodseats, or delivered to our allotment.

Have you any riding stables nearby - they're usually quite keen to get rid.Comment

I also live in Sheffield ( North) and we have always got horse manure from a local stables and it has been great. This year however our last batch must have been contaminated with selective weed killer (amino pyralamide?) and my spuds and beans have been badly affected. Apparently this is quite common - there are other threads on the site about this. The problem is that even if the stable owners have not used the weed kiler they may buy in contaminated hay. So I would say be wary of manure from stables. I am just puzzling waht to do this winter for manure - we have some garden compost but not enough.
What is anyne else doing?
