My submission to the liar's club is the possibility of uneven watering?

Also, some types are more prone to splitting than others, should still taste good even if it doesn't win any beauty comps.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Sorry - but do you really mean ounces? - 309 ounces = 19.3126 pounds - do you actually mean grams?

Many of the beefsteak types have this tendency to split and go corky. Splitting is usually down to uneven watering but I suspect it's just the variety. Cut the brown bits out. There's still plenty left to go round!
