  • Harvested my first pumpkin last night !

9lb crown price (ta GN! ). Looks great, but covered in scars... How do you lot avoid this? The majority of the scars are around the middle, where the vine's along the 'T' junction to the pumpkin have rubbed it.. before it outgrew them, and I removed them.

I had it up on muliple layers of cardboard for a while, before they started to rot away, then in the end up on pebbles, so not many marks underneath it.

Going to store it for a while, then try soup / roasted... planning to save one of the others until xmas too

I'd cut off some vine near the stalk, which has dried all up and is brown now - as can be seen in picture.. do you think this'll store well? The stalk is still solid to touch. I've cut off probably 1.5foot of vine with the pumpkin!

Scars or no scars, I'm impressed. Well done. None of my squash did much this year ... (sorry GN)

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day
