Just got some lettuces and broccoli and some sungold seeds - swore I wouldn't spend this month on gardening! It also let me add the "get two packets of seeds free" offer at checkout, so worth keeping eye open at the top of the basket for that.

A quick question, I ordered the set of winter plug plants (cabbage, cauli and brocolli) do I plant the plugs straight out or into a larger pot first?

I grew mine on a bit in troughs with the edges smeared in petroleum jelly to keep the slugs off. Worked a treat. They are big enough to plant straight in the ground if you want to though.

I would get them in the garden (provided the plug plants are not infact teeny weeny specs) and give them a chage to get used to their new home. Make sur eyou really firm them in.
Oh and there's still afew slugs around so might be worth taking some precautions

(I used half cut cola bottles as cloches )

My plants arrived today. I ordered the set with 5 of each as its the first time I've tried to grow brassicas and lo and behold they sent 6 of each and there were a few plugs with 2 plants in so ended up with 27 instead of 20, jackpot!

They looked much bigger and healthier than the ones I saw in homebase last week

thanks everyone - missed the boat with brassica seeds this summer so this will fill a bed or two on the plot which is starting to look a bit sorry for itself. Got the winter lettuces too but not sure if I've enough protection for them outside - but the tomatoes will be out of the greenhouse soon so can put some in there at least.

Same with mine - have planted the lettuces so far yesterday (brassicas to go in today when I've trodden all over the raised bed to squish it down) and there must have been around 15 extra with the ones that were double/triple planted in the end.

Just got to hope that a frost doesn't hit before the tomatoes in the greenhouse are finished.
