Growing Potimarron

Just had to google them as I'd never heard of them. They sound delicious!

Does anyone know -are these the same variety as Uchiki Kuri?

I like the sound of the potimarrons, but since I already have kuri seeds I don't want to duplicate!

I hated pumpkins, they're sort of stringy and flavourless and pointless, but a friend asked me to grow some for her, so I bought a packet of Pottimarron. I'm a firm believer in trying a little of what you grow though so I kept the smallest one back and roasted it along with some parsnips and carrots. OMG!!! pumpkin immediately went from one of my least favourite veg to one of my top three after just one mouthful. They are absolutely delicious. I now grow (and keep) as many plants as I can find room for. I don't stop their growth though until later in the season when they try to take over the world, but I do allow just three or four fruits to develop and remove any female flowers after that. A plant needs leaves to feed and swell the fruit, if you restrict its growth too much it won't be able to do that. You can make a plant go where you want it to though so I place canes, forcing it back on itself.
For anyone who's a fan of Brussels sprouts with chestnuts and strips of bacon (a Christmas favourite here), you can replace the chestnuts with chunks of pottimarron, they really do taste deliciously chestnuty.
Indigox, I think the two varieries are very similar.

Potmiarons are a different variety from Kuri but have similarities.
