  • General Feeding Question

    Hello All,

I have never been that organised around giving the veg regular feeds but would like to change that this year.

I have 3 types of feed and wondered if anyone could give me a quick guide on what goes where and frequency.

I have Bokashi tea, general tomato feed, and chicken pellets.

My main crops (hoping!) will be potatoes, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, lettuce, rocket, paq choi, broccoli, spring onions, sprouts, and leaf beet.

    As always cheers!
    Cheers

    Danny

    I'm no expert, but:

    * tomato feed can be given to tomatoes, strawbs, cues when the flowers start to set fruit - don't use it before then, though

    * broccoli and sprouts would benefit most from your chicken pellets, as they (like most brassicas) are notoriously greedy feeders

    * the others probably don't need regular feeding, but a bit of weak bokashi tea probably wouldn't go amiss

Not sure about potatoes - you could dig in some chicken pellets, but Bob Flowerdew says that a good soaking when they start to flower is the easiest way to improve the yield. Haven't tried it yet, since I haven't had to water the lottie for the past two years!
