  • Garland Super 7 Windowsill Propagator? - Reviews

Just in the middle of planning everything that I want to grow next year
    and I came across this.

I've never used a propagator (heated or not) This little product looks very
useful and the fact it has 7 boxes and fits on the windowsill makes me think
it might be very good value for money

Does anyone own one? and good tell me if they are worth it before I part
    with my cash

    Cheers
    Aylith

It does look good, but surely a polythene bag over a tray would be a cheaper option?

It will be good to hear other peoples views on this though as lots of gardening mags and books make it sound essential!!

I bought two of these (£17.50 each). Brilliant. Electric Propagator / Greenhouse / Cold Frame on eBay, also Propagators Cold Frames, Hand Tools Equipment, Garden Plants, Home Garden (end time 21-Nov-08 20:01:54 GMT)

you don't get any extra heat without leccy. It's not essential, but a leccy propagator certainly gets things started. I was a sceptic, but wouldn't be without mine now, just for germinating things (they come out once they've got going)

I haven't got electric ones, but i did treat myself to 2 windowsill jobbies from wyevales last year, they have 5 2x3 modules in each, very handy, cos they fit along my kitchen windowsill which is the sunniest one in the house.

I got some like Bride's, from Lidl or Aldi (forget which) - £2.99 well spent.

After having big problems getting some of my tomatoes and almost all of my chills germinated last year I got one of the garland super 3's, which looked a much better alternative to the super 7 to me.
I haven't used it yet, but it looks nice on the windowsill.

Heres hoping for a good germinating year.

It does look good quality btw.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

I have used electric ones for a few years, really good for things that like a bit of heat. Used last year for tomatoes, aubergines etc good germination.

                  I wouldn't be without mine!

It was from Aldi, I agree they were a real bargain. hope they do the same offer next year.

Heated propagators do increase germination ratios for many seeds and they are also super for difficult cuttings.

I've got one of the window sill ones with three separate bits - got it for Christmas last year from my mum and found it very good. The trays were still a reasonable size but I could have different ventilation in each part if I wanted. Before you buy the 7 one make sure that you'd be able to fit everything you wanted in the trays as they must be pretty small as the heated tray bit is the same size as for my 3 one - if you see what I mean.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Hi, I have had mine for about 7 years maybe more......it's been great!
I have had to buy new trays and lids but that was easy enough.
You need to move the seedlings on fairly quickly.
                          A good simple product!

I've got a heated propagator, but it's slightly bigger -I wouldn't be without it, like many on here have said.

An alternative is a heated brewing mat, my friend uses one and says it's really goo. They have a bigger heated area, so you can fit more pots/trays on it. She does all her cuttings and seeds in pots, covered in a plastic bags and stood on the mat.
