I've never found any that won't wear out pretty quickly on the right index finger tip - really annoying, have loads of perfect left hand ones but I can't buy just the one hand when I replace

I use standard leather riggers gloves £1-08p + VAT.
Screwfix do a very large range of gloves you might want to have a look on their web site.

Alison - I have had the same problem for years - the amount of gloves I go through is embarrassing (and expensive!) until I found some absolute gems earlier this year. I think they cost about £7 but they are lightweight, cool, very strong but you can still feel what your hands are doing in them (I hate not being able to do the more delicate jobs with big clumpy gloves). I've had them since about Feb this year and they are amazing - all the tops are still on all the fingers - very impressed, so much so that next time I pass I'll definitely be picking up a spare pair! I can't find a link to post but you'll find them in the gardening glove section and they are (or at least were!) red on the top and bottom is a purplish suede/leather.

I use gold leaf leather and suede. They are pricey but have seen them on offer at various places online. Thanks, I'll have a look next time I'm there. I too don't like ones that are too thick so the people recommending gauntlets won't help me as I can't be doing most of my jobs with them on. The gauntlets are for roses. Gold Leaf make several different types for different jobs. Depends how much you want to pay/have them last for. If you want cheap and cheerful then GL aren't for you. Maybe they do a more lightweight version but all the Gold Leaf ones I've seen, whilst looking very good quality, have been too thick for me to be able to feel properly and I'd end up taking them off to get a better feel so they would indeed last forever

They do a neoprene/elastic style glove with leather up the palms which are brilliant for fine stuff. I can certainly feel what I am doing in them. You may have tried the fleeced inner ones which I didn't like when I tried them on. They have four different sets for ladies and the same for men. I've tried all manner of cheap ones from Wilkos, B and Q, £land - all thrown after some time as never quite gave me what I was looking for.Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein
