  • Gardeners World Live on TV

One of the chaps (I am useless with names) showed how to make plant feed by putting a bit of guttering on the shed and filling it with something and then putting a lemonade bottle full of something in it to weigh it down so the smelly juices would come out of the bottom.

Does anyone know if this is on a web site somewhere so I can print it off to show OH what I want him to do

So you fill the pipe with comfrey or whatever and then you catch the stuff that comes out of the bottom?
So...... I'm trying to get my head around, why you'd do this and not just stick it in a bucket?

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

Doing it this way means you don't end up with a big bucket/barrel of vile smelling liquid. As zazzen said it drips, thick drops into you container and you then add water and use.

It's on the Gardeners World website.
Length of soil pipe, vertically clamped to wall surface. End cap on bottom with a few smallish holes punched through it. Filled with comfrey, no water. Emptly lemonade bottle filled with sand and water, tied to long string (to pull it out with) pushed down on top of comfrey. Comfrey rots and juice drips out the bottom into can/bucket. Dilute and use. This method does not smell as bad as the bucket with water method, apparently.

I am having the same problem as you Anita. I saw the show and was really looking forward to finding more detailed instructions on the website and I can find it nowhere!
