| The "cracking" you've described is perfectly normal. Beans germinate and send up a shoot with (as you've said) a fat thing at the end. These are the cotyledon leaves which are basically the inside of the bean seed. They split into two and the actual growing point emerges from between them. They will eventually shrivel away after they've served their purpose and you will get proper leaves growing. |
