  • Found blight on the tomatoes.. what should i do?

This morning I found a few leaves on one of the tomato bushes that were infected with blight. I picked all of the infected leaves from the plant and disposed of them where they can't harm anything.

now can i relax? or should I take extra measures? What would i have to do?

    thanks

Just keep an eye on the plant, and any others around it, watching for any other signs so that you can deal with it quickly, and hopefully prevent it from spreading. If you're growing organically there isn't much else you can do really. There is the option to spray all of your plants with Bordeaux Mixture (which is a preventative, not a cure) but there is some evidence of it building up in the soil and so, personally, I prefer not to use it.

first, cry. When yu've done that, you can either hope the rest of the plant is not infected, or spray against it.

      Step 1 - verification

      Step 2 - maybe....spray...#

I found this on one of mine and have isolated it from the others now.

If you have touched a blight infected leaf is washing your hands well enough to prevent spreading it?

Yeah, trying to keep it organic. I will make sure to isolate it right now! It's right next to the spuds and more tomatoes. Luckily none of them have it.

So i should make sure to not use the same soil again next year encase the blight is living inside it now?

Mix some baking soda with water and spray on the plant. It will kill off remaining spores

Blight can only survive on living plant tissue
