Default Foolishness and Folly or Hardgraft and learning

Well I've finally finished off the garden in my old flat today. In total i've weeded, cleared a briar at the back put in a flower bed pruned and made the sure everything looks presentable for the next tennants that move in.

They should find some broccoli, poppies, spinich, rhubarb, leeks, lettuce, and strawberrys as a welcome

Now some would say that because i didn't own the property my work is a waste of time. Personally i'd say that it's merely a way to develop my skills and hone my techniques.

I'e attached a few photos so you can see the end result, it's a shame that i've not got any photos prior to any improvement

so what do you guys think am i foolish or merely gaining experience?

Gaining experience, obviously! And pleasure, excercise & mental well-being at the same time

"because i didn't own the property my work is a waste of time"

We rented which was intended to be for a year, but did veg and all sorts. Actually, it was 7 years before we were able to move on from there ... so you never know!

Definitely developing skills; don't forget to pot up any strawb runners to take with you.

All good experience and it was very nice of you to make such an effort for the next people.

I've always "done up" the gardens of the flats I've rented. Never got any thanks for it, either

Before when I rented I always tidied and 'improved' the garden, each one got a descendant of my grapevine! Don't know what the next people thought, but I enjoyed doing it, so ... I am enjoying being more settled though. Been here close on 4 years, so the garden is beginning to mature. I always thought, maybe if the next tenants moved into a garden with fruit and veg they might be tempted to 'have a go'. So spread the word!

No you're not foolish Duronal. You did a lovely job there and I'm sure you enjoyed doing it. That's the bit that counts.

Anything that improves the view from your house while you are there and adds to the local biodiversity has got to be worth doing. If you can pick yourself the odd bunch of flowers and dig up or pull something to eat too - it's win-win. You may have converted the next people too. Definitely worth doing!
